With the holiday season on the way, traveling arrangements are being made by millions of people around the world. If everything goes right from A to Z, time spent traveling will pass unnoticed. On the other hand, holiday traffic frequency often means smaller or larger inconveniences, from unexpected delays to flight redirections and even cancellations. Therefore, it is better to be prepared as much as possible for these unpleasant surprises and complete the journey as smoothly as possible. These 8 things that will make your trip so much easier.
Check baggage regulations
Taking a bottle of the finest whiskey or perfume as a present is a nice gesture, but you may not be able to carry them along. Check the baggage restrictions in detail before you pack to avoid unnecessary situations at the check in point.
Naturally, any present is enriched by a suitable packaging. However, it is wiser to take them separately and pack your presents at the destination since security officers may want to check the goods you are carrying. This way you avoid checking in delays and repackaging costs.
Head for the airport on time
Airports are crowded places during holidays and heading there at least half an hour earlier than usual is a smart thing to do due to possible traffic jams and parking issues around the airport. Airport transfer services should be considered as well as it is often more efficient than personal cars during a holiday season.
Check the flight details again just before you leave
Make sure you call the airport and check if there are any delays or anything else unexpected related to your flight. If you need to wait, it is much less stressful to wait on your living room sofa than in crowded airport corridors.
Update your smartphone
Fill your smartphone with useful applications that will come in handy during the holiday, particularly the ones provided by your carrier, departure and destination airport and public transportation. Include destination accommodation and restaurants, just to be safe in anything unexpected happens and you need to change your routine.
Do not forget the games
Smartphone games always come in handy when it comes to shortening the delay time. The more the merrier, so include arcades, adventures, platform games or any other genre that you prefer. They do not have to be the latest breakthroughs when it comes to graphics and animation, very often logic puzzles such as Sudoku are the best to pass the time.
Keep all chargers and cables at hand
Having to go through all your stuff in order to get to a mobile phone or tablet charger is easily avoidable if you keep them at an easy to reach the spot. Use the side pocket of your bag or keep them on top of other things, they will surely be needed in case you have to wait long.
Take your favorite book
If you are not an electronic type of person, the best way to go through delay time is to emerge into the action of your favorite book, away from the surrounding hectic atmosphere at the airport. Plus, you do not need any sockets to enjoy the power of the written word.
Hopefully, there will not be any delays and your flight will be over in a breeze. On the other hand, if anything unexpected does happen, you will be more than prepared with these 8 items checked on your travel list. and see our other posts like EXPAT LIFE IN COSTA RICA: A SHORT GUIDE
